Shonda Rhimes Jump-Starts #SmartGirlsAsk Before Emmys – Hollywood Reporter

Rhimes may have kicked off this year’s #AskHerMore.

Shonda Rhimes is getting a jumpstart on Sunday’s Emmys’ red carpet questions with the #SmartGirlsAsk hashtag.

The Scandal showrunner is calling on the media to ask female Emmy Awards-goers “smart” questions.

“Question for the #Emmys red carpet: What is the best piece of career advice someone has given to you? #SmartGirlsAsk,” she tweeted Friday evening.

#SmartGirlsAsk may just be this year’s #AskHerMore, a campaign that started in 2014 when California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, created a campaign to publicize her The Representation Project, an advocacy group fighting gender stereotypes. #AskHerMore propositioned the media to ask female carpet-walkers about more than their gowns, which picked up at the 2014 Emmys.
