In July, the Goldwyn-produced drama The Divide, which he worked on with Richard LaGravenese (Behind the Candelabra), will make its debut on the rebranded WEtv network, and Entertainment Weekly has your first look at the series.

“It’s absolutely insane, but intoxicating as well,” Goldwyn told EW back in late November of juggling writing and producing with his Scandalduties. “It’s incredibly busy doing both, but so incredibly creatively inspiring.”

The drama centers on an Innocence Initiative caseworker (Marin Ireland, Homeland) who aims to stop the impending execution of a death row inmate (Chris Bauer), whom she believes was wrongly convicted of a young family’s murder. Damon Gupton (The Newsroom), Nia Long (The Single Moms Club), and Paul Schneider (Water for Elephants) also star on the show, which is the network’s first scripted program. “It’s going to essentially be AMC with a female orientation,” Goldwyn said of the “retooled” home for the series. “I think The Divide is going to be an incredible show.”

Goldwyn’s history with The Innocence Project dates back several years, and in fact, he directed 2010′s Conviction, which starred Hilary Swank as a woman who puts herself through law school to defend her brother after he’s wrongfully convicted of murder.
